I have a confession…..I have not seen the Phantom of the Opera on stage before, and as a self-proclaimed theatre buff; I should be ashamed of myself. Phantom, as well as classic musicals like, Cats and the Wiz are as important to musical theatre as Congress is to Capitol Hill!
But this week, I had a chance to see Love Never Dies, it’s the sequel to Phantom, and it is phenomenal! I loved every minute! The production is a sight to see; from the costumes, to hair and makeup and set design – this show is beautiful!
So when I had the chance to talk to Meghan Picerno, who stars as Christine Daaé in the North American Production, I was so excited; and even more excited when she agreed to give me an exclusive backstage look at some of her costumes!
Check out the video below, and make sure you catch, the North American Tour of Love Never Dies! The show is in Pittsburgh right now!
The year is 1907. It is 10 years after his disappearance from the Paris Opera House and the Phantom has escaped to a new life in New York where he lives amongst the screaming joy rides and freak shows of Coney Island.
In this new, electrically charged world, he has finally found a place for his music to soar, but he has never stopped yearning for his one true love and musical protégée, Christine Daaé.
