One of my all time favorite Broadway shows is The Wiz!  I love watching the throwback movie from 1978 starring Diana Ross and Michael Jackson, but when NBC premiered The Wiz Live last year I was over the moon!  The hair, the makeup, the costumes – everything was beyond fabulous!  I would have never thought in a million years that I would be able to actually see the costumes from the production live and up close!  But I have and you can too!

In collaboration with Cirque du Soleil Theatrical and Tony Award winning Costume Designer, Paul Tazewell, FashionAFRICANA presents the world premiere of the Costumes of the Wiz Live!, a multi-media costume exhibition featuring the work of Paul Tazewell from the NBC television broadcast, Wiz Live! The one-time-only exhibition will be held at the August Wilson Center for African American Culture from September 23, 2016 through November 30, 2016.

Recently, FashionAFRICANA held an opening gala – here are some photos from the event.  The exhibit photos were taken by my daughter Ryann!  She’s only 9 but she has a great eye!  (She was making her “Wiz” Face)
